Earlier this year I asked Facebook whether anyone would be willing to throw in a few pounds towards my costs for the America bike ride. I was completely overwhelmed by the response (you folks are AWESOME!). I’m writing this blog to be transparent about how much money I raised and what it is used for. I’ll keep updating this page so you know how your money was used.
Donations:
- Total donated on Facebook: £841. Total amount credited to my account £809.93*
- Total donated through Ko-Fi (international donation) £12. Total amount credited to my account £11.11
- Total amount donated: £843. Total amount credited to my account: £820.94
Expenditure:
Applying for US Visa – £136
Remaining:
£684.94
*Facebook charges 1.50% + £0.24 per donation. As you would expect I looked at lots of options, including some which don’t charge fees, but Facebook’s fees were very competitive and had the benefit of increasing reach as sharing external links due to the way that algorithms work.
