2k14

Welcome to 2014 – please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times!

I was going to write a blog about 2013, and things which happened, but like Dom Anderson, VP Society and Citizenship for NUS said recently – it is better to look towards the future than towards the past!
So, instead I’ve had a look at some of the things I blog, what I’m writing about, and what I’d like to add in 2014. It’s going to be a year of change – in July I’ll be moving on from the SU, looking for a job, moving in with Lizzie, and moving out of Bangor. I’ve had a cracking time, but as one chapter comes to an end, another will begin. Of course I’m a tad scared – but I’m also really excited and optimistic. I’ve spent a bit of time thinking about options for next steps, and there are a wide range of opportunities to look into – ultimately, I’ve always believed life is more about what you make of what you’ve got than some constant race to reach an unknown and unquantifiable goal.
In the short term, I’m looking at my New Years resolutions. Just two simple ones I think this year. Firstly – I’m going to try and blog about some of the books I’m reading, partly to start conversations, and partly so I have a little archive of what I’ve read that I can refer to (seeing as my memory is about as effective as a leaky sieve!) I may also stick in a few notes about places I’ve been and things I’ve seen.
Secondly – and this is a really tough one – no new books. Presents excepted, I’m going to try and avoid spending any money on books till I’ve left Bangor. I have whole shelves of books I’ve yet to read, plus boxes of books that I can’t fit in Bangor – adding any more to my collection would be mayhem!
So, that’s it for now! I’m going back to doing crazy dancing with Lizzie and dreaming of moving in together before 2014 ends. Hope you have a good’un too!
